The Beauty of Friendship

photos

Hi Guys,

I am back again with something totally different this time.

When I decided to create Boudicas Beauty, my ideas were to review, promote and have fun with make up and beauty products.

Since then I have realised that beauty is only skin deep and that a blossoming friendship is one of the most beautiful things there is.

Therefore I wanted to share with you a little story of how a girl I met online became not only my friend, but my best friend, my sister from another mother…..

House of Fraser Treats

IMG_0963.JPG

Hi guys,

So I recently went onto the House of Fraser website for a snoop – like I need any excuse to shop 😳

I have been after a couple of things for a while but as usual ended up spending a fortune……

The first thing on my list was the UD setting spray. If you read my October Favourites blog you will know that I recently ran out of the De-Slick spray which I was gutted about 😩 anyway I decided to try the All Nighter spray, it was £9 for a bottle and cannot wait to try it.

Next I seem to have navigated myself onto the MAC section of the website and somehow 2 little items ended up in my basket haha! First was the MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre (£15) I love this colour, either worn as a natural colour or it makes a fab base for another eyeshadow. The swatch isn’t great but you can see it’s really natural.

The other MAC product that I ended up buying was the MAC Prep & Prime Highlighter Pen in the shade Light Boost (£18.50) I have heard good things about this product and cannot wait to try it. I also love the cute packaging as it’s sparkles in the light – I am sold on this product before I have even used it haha!

The last, and most expensive thing to find it’s way into the basket is the Dior Holiday Couture Collection Palette (£71) – as a Dior fanatic I just knew from the moment I saw it that I had to have it. No negotiations with my inner self, it was coming home to me! End of 😝

IMG_0992.JPG

This is just the most gorgeous thing I have ever seen and cannot wait to try it out this Saturday. The pictures are self explanatory so I won’t go on and on but it has everything you need to create many different looks.

Yes the price tag is high but I am blind when it comes to Dior so don’t really care. If you like Dior then go buy it or ask the man in your life to dig deep this Christmas – I am sure you would love it as much as I do and if not you can send it to me, I will gladly give it a home 😉

Ooooh I almost forgot, because I spent X amount on Dior I got a free gift.

This is like one of the most adorable things ever. It is literally like a little purse with a magnetic clasp, in baby pink!! It’s so cute!! Inside are 4 little Dior lipstick samples. I haven’t tried them yet but having used Dior lipsticks previously, I am certain I will love them.

I will update you all on these products when I have tested them all. I am off shopping next Thursday so wonder what goodies will sneak into my basket then 😊

Thanks guys xx

Budget Beauty…….

Hey guys,

So following on from my Friday Favourite’s blog where I spoke about MUA products I decided to go to Superdrug and add a few more bits to my collection hehe 🙂

I didn’t end up with much as shopping with a toddler in tow isn’t my idea of fun but I did manage to pick up another blusher and a few more lip products.

The blusher I bought is called “Candyfloss” and is a lovely pink colour.  The picture doesn’t do it much justice but like I said in my last MUA post it really is build-able and seems to last a good while.  I do spray my face with fixing spray when I have finished applying all my make up so whether that increases its lasting power I don’t know but I really like these blushes!

I also bought another Intense Kisses lip gloss which I love.  This one is called “Quick Kiss” and is a lot more noticeable on the lips compared to the other one I have called “Sealed with a Kiss” I wear Quick Kiss with a nude eye as with my skin tone it looks quite bold.

The final items I threw into my basket were the Sheer Finish Lip Glosses which if you read my other blog post you will know that I love.  The 2 colour’s I bought are “Cant Stop” and “Cute Talk” – both these colour’s are really natural and pretty and I just love the feel of this gloss on my lips.  Makes them feel super smooth and just finishes the over all look.  LOVE LOVE LOVE all these products and I intend on buying the full collection soon!!

The total cost for these 4 products was £5.00 :-)))

I don’t think you can go wrong at that price – where else can you buy a decent blusher for £1.00……..get yourself to Superdrug and try them for yourself 🙂

Go Natural 💕

IMG_0164.JPG

Hi guys,

Another quick blog about this natural palette from W7.

A few months back I was on the look out for a small palette of natural colours for day to day use, in particular going to work. As a busy mum I don’t get too much time in the mornings and needed a quick, easy and natural look, this really is all of the above.

I came across this on eBay – it was £2.99!! That’s right, less than £3.00! I wondered whether to bother trying it but I am glad I did.

The palette comes with a small applicator which I don’t think is all that great so I use this product with a blending brush. It’s quite build-able and really does create a lovely natural look.

I tested this out before I went to work at 8 am and it was still in place at 5pm – I thought it may have worn off by then but it lasted well.

All in all for it’s price I think it’s a make up must have and intend to re-purchase this when it runs out.

If you like natural eyes then why not give it a try, I am glad I did 😊

Daisy Dream – Marc Jacobs

Hi guys,

If you follow me on Twitter you will know what this next blog is about……Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream.

I have always been a big collector of perfume, Marc Jacobs and Dior being my all time favourites. I was sooooo excited when I heard that Daisy Dream was the new fragrance from Marc Jacobs and knew I had to try it.

On a recent trip abroad I hit the perfume stores desperate to find this and give it a squirt. On approach to Feel Unique I saw a huge display of this in the window and there was no stopping me. In I went!!

I am a big lover of Daisy Eau So Fresh and Lola, although I find Lola wears off very quickly on me which is disappointing 😦

Anyway I fell in love with Daisy Dream almost instantly. The bottle is so cute, I love the mini daisies on the bottle and the lid, and the light blue colour compliments it well. Reminds me of little clouds 😊

The fragrance itself is quite similar to Daisy Eau So Fresh but not quite as strong. It is very feminine and fresh, which is a big plus for me. I don’t like strong fragrances or any fragrances that smell like mens cologne 😷 that’s a big no no for me!

The lasting power of this fragrance on me isn’t great, I tend to reapply during the course of the day but I don’t mind doing that as it’s just another excuse to smell this gorgeous fragrance. I would say this fragrance is definitely a day time fragrance due to it being quite light in scent – I tend to wear it for work most days and I get a lot of compliments.

I bought the 50ml bottle as it came with a free gift, a lovely little make up bag and a small tube of body cream. This body cream is gorgeous, smells divine and absorbs well. Really compliments the perfume when worn together.

This will definitely be making it into my top ten for fragrances and will repurchase when the bottle is empty.

If you see this in the shops give it a squirt, I doubt you will be disappointed!

Thanks guys, much love xxx

Tan Tastic ❤️

IMG_0126.JPG

Anyone who knows me will know that I am a wimp when it comes to fake tan – I have never used a sun bed before and the idea of stripping off for someone to spray me at a salon fills me with total dread!

I do however love being tanned, it makes me feel fabulous, fresh and healthy! For a long time I have used Dove Summer Glow and have never had a problem with it. However the bottle bores me so thought it was time for a change 🙂

I have been after a decent face tanner for a long time but have always been too scared to give one a go in case I ended up looking ridiculous and not being able to leave the house.

On a recent trip to Boots I decided to have a look and there was an offer on L’Oreal products which of course caught my attention instantly as I tend to buy a lot from that brand.

I think the offer was buy one get one half price so opted to give it a try. I eventually settled on the two products pictured above:

L’Oreal Sublime Bronze Summer Glow Lotion (gradual tanner) & L’Oreal Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Elixir.

I have to say I was very sceptical about using the elixir as I had read mixed reviews on various threads but figured it couldn’t hurt to try! Well I am glad I did, this product is brilliant. It’s like a white gel which you just apply over your face or body, it dries really quickly and I don’t find the smell very offensive unlike some other tanning products. I put this on before I went to bed and when I woke up I had a lovely summer looking tan that had no streaks or dark patches. It was just what I was looking for!!

One application lasts me a few days on my face even though it claims to last 2 weeks. I do however exfoliate my face regularly so this may have something to do with it not lasting very long. All in all, a good product that I would highly recommend.

The other product I bought was the gradual tanner, the bottle states to use this over 3 consecutive days to give you a summer glow. I put this on before I went to bed and woke up a lot more tanned than I was to start with, I wouldn’t recommend using this for 3 consecutive days unless you want a very dark tan.

The product is easy to apply and doesn’t take too long to be absorbed. It left me feeling very moisturised and healthy looking.

I am soooo glad I decided to try these products and have now incorporated both into my weekly routine. I tend to use both about twice a week to maintain my summer glow.

Will definitely be buying both these products again.

Love love love!! Xxx

Friday Favourites

imageimageimageimage

Hi guys, thought I would blog about some of my favourite drugstore products. I have chosen to write about a few MUA products that I have been trying for the last couple of months. These products have quickly become my go to products that I use daily for work. What’s great about them is that they come with a very cheap price tag as well as being decent products.

The first items that I purchased were 2 blushes in the colours Bon Bon & Cupcake, at £1.00 each I thought I would be mad not to give them a try.

Bon Bon is the darker of the 2 shades and is very buildable – a little goes a long way. Cupcake is a pinky coral colour which I love when I am tanned. It adds just enough colour to my cheeks to give me a nice complexion. Only thing I have noticed with these 2 is that I need to reapply during the day but for £1.00 each I really don’t mind having to do that.

The next items I bought were all lip products:- MUA Intense Kisses in the shade Sealed with a Kiss £2.00

MUA Sheer Finish Lipgloss in the shade Too Much Fun £1.00

MUA Intense Colour Lip Liner in the shade Softly Lined £1.00

i have to say I love all these lip products. Sealed with a kiss is a lovely soft gloss and I find the colour lasts really well, I tend to reapply this product every couple of hours. It’s not sticky or gloopy at all – well worth the money! I intend to buy the other colours when they are in stock.

Too Much Fun is a nice fun colour for during the day. I wouldn’t use this product at night as it’s staying power isn’t great. I also find the applicator a bit tricky to obtain good coverage but for it’s price tag I am quite happy with this product.

Finally the lip liner is a pretty pink nude colour which is great for during the day. Again the staying power isn’t fantastic but if you are happy to reapply during the course of the day then it’s pretty faultless in my option!

Overall the MUA products that I have tried are a real bargain and I will be building up my collection on my next visit to Superdrug! The 5 products cost me a total of £6 which I think is FAB!

Give them a try – big thumbs up from me!!

Thanks for reading guys! Xxx

Tanya Burr Nail Polish <3

Ok, so this is my first ever blog post so please go easy on me!!

As a big follower of Tanya Burr I decided that my first post/review would be about her own nail varnish.  What can I say?! I absolutely love love love them! I have so far bought 3 of her polishes (Little Duck, Bright & Early, Be Bright, Be Happy & Be You)

Nail Polish

First of all I adore the name Little Duck, its partly down to the name that I actually made the purchase hehe!! This polish is a mint green colour which at the moment is one of my GT colours – I just love it and have received a lot of comments at work.  Bright & Early is a coral pink colour and Be Bright, Be Happy, Be You is more of a fuchsia pink colour.  Being a big fan of summery colours, these 3 colours have made a big impact on my collection and I am so glad I bought them.

As a full time mother of 2 boys, I often struggle to find time to paint my nails in peace, and quite often have to paint one hand at a time, leaving me one handed playing with my boys!! However this nail varnish glides on without any clumps, isnt too runny or gloopy and best of all dries so quickly. I just love it!! Have I said that already 🙂

I purchased my 3 bottles from Superdrug a few weeks ago as they were on offer for £3.99 – how could I resist such a bargain?!  I intend to buy the complete collection soon. I think the normal RRP for these is £5.99 which in my opinion is a reasonable price for such a good quality product.

I can highly recommend these nail polishes, you will not be disappointed!!

Keep up the good work Tanya…..

Thanks for reading guys xxx
